San Francisco Business Times: Wireless equipment maker gets $10M round

August 5, 2005

WideRay, a San Francisco maker of wireless network hardware and software has raised $10 million in a Series C funding.

The private company's products enable customers to beam data to people using handheld devices such as smart phones.

Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, a new investor, led the expansion round, with additional backing from existing investor Sequoia Capital and other private individuals. As part of the agreement, Bill Stensrud, managing director of EPVC, will join WideRay's board of directors.

WideRay will use the funds to build its customer base and "capitalize on the accelerated demand for on-location wireless entertainment and promotional content distribution across retail segments," the company said.

The funding follows a number of recent customer acquisitions, including EB Games and Twentieth Century Fox/Loews Theater.
